I have an ASUS GL502VS. I had a standard cooling pad that would simply blow air up into the laptop exhaust. It didn't do much of anything. This IETS cooling pad has a unique design - the sealing foam traps the air to create airflow, so it can be properly vented out of the back of the device. It works with your laptop's fan exhaust, not against it - and that makes all the difference.

Yeah, it's louder if you don't have the laptop on the pad. My laptop is 15.6" and fits perfectly with the 15" rubber seal that's already installed. Once you buy this bad boy, adjust your laptop accordingly for the best results!
